Around Kent > Walking > North Downs Way
Joining the North Downs Way as it leaves East Cantebury, it's possible to walk to Dover 18 miles away. If you want to return to Canterbury on the same day, there are a number of drop off points to the nearby trainline - including Aylesham and Shepherdswell (or indeed Dover itself). I opted for Shepherdswell, giving a route of 10-11 miles, with pretty easy terrain (well-marked footpaths throughout, and only small hills) which took about 4-5 hours including breaks.

The route was very picturesque, and well worth doing again - and didn't require too much referring back to the map. Here's the pictures:
